For IDE i prefer Eclipse with Add-ons. I use to extend it with Aptana
but have since stopped as I can now achieve a better, more stable IDE
with the native eclipse projects. WST for XML, JS, CSS and HTML, PDT
for PHP, and Remote System Explorer for SFTP/FTP.
As far as 64 vs 32 as long as your not trying to make it a Boxee/media
server. 64 bit is your best choice.
And on the Songbird thing. They didn't drop Linux. They just no longer
send it through the Unit Tests & QA phase. However a good chunk of
there devs do use Linux to develop on. So you shouldn't have many if
not any problems.
