[DC LoCo] Computer reuse

I have an old Gateway (P3/500mhz, 256mb RAM) running Xubuntu 8.04. I
use it mostly as a home/file server and ghetto media center. I like it
a lot for what I use it for -- just to watch videos, serve as a file
share hub, do LAMP while I use my other machines.

In my case, I installed Ubuntu 8.04 and downgraded via synaptic.
Frankly, I don't notice any performance improvements at all with
Xubuntu -- it's a bit slow on either for general use. But I don't use
it generally, so it's fine and I may be ignorant to its flaws/bugs.

Before this, I had it on Fluxbuntu -- pretty much the same story.
