I don't excuse that blog post, which he eventually apologized for (but
did not delete the article). And the site obviously promotes
commercial software as well as open source software (which Ubuntu is
slowly moving to include via the Software Center anyway).
On the other hand, OMG Ubuntu is a regularly updated news source for
non-developers about what is going on in Ubuntu development. While
there are other ways to get information about Ubuntu development, OMG
Ubuntu often has information that is not posted to the Ubuntu Planet
and thus is more difficult for the new or non-technical Ubuntu users
to learn about. The blog also appears to have been accepted by several
key Ubuntu community members who comment and even write guest
articles.
So, yes, there are many in the community who think the site is
valuable and many others that think it's inaccurate and disrespectful.
I suggest you read it for the information it does give but don't
believe everything you read and if it gets your blood pressure too
high, there's other things to do on the Internet than reading it.
