hi ubuntistas,
i've reserved the 100 person meeting room at watha t. daniel
public library in DC for saturday, april 3, from 9:30 am to noon.
i'll be holding a free public event there titled, "An Intro to Ubuntu
Linux for Parents and Teachers." i'll be showing and explaining a
couple of educational apps i like, including Inkscape vector drawing
program and TetraVex logic puzzles. i'll also show and explain the SYA
Sokoban logic puzzles.
stop on by if you have the time and interest. i'll probably also
have some ubuntu computers to give away that day. i'll bring with me
four ubuntu laptops and about 8 lcd monitors. if some folks here on
this list can bring some ubuntu laptops (or desktops) that will extend
the number of people who can have hands on experience with linux.
bringing some power strips and extension cords would also be helpful.
i've put in a request to use the projector in that room. the
watha t. daneil branch library is located in the shaw neighborhood,
right beside the shaw subway stop. it's a gorgeous new library. the
meeting room is down in the basement. i'm not sure if the wifi extends
down there, but i think it does.
is there anyone here on the list interested and able to create
a flyer for this event (using free software?) i'll be announcing the
event on various DC email lists and can link to the flyer as a pdf
file online.
i'll also contact some of the folks i know at Bread for the
City, which is located right in the shaw neighborhood and serves
thousands of families in the city.
