[DC LoCo] Ubuntu 14.04 Hotspot not working right?

longer description of what else I've tried, links to articles, more
specific commands,  terminal output awaiting moderator approval as nearly
64k message length on two of the three lists (sorry for those without
working wifi, /cough)

as middle of the night for most people, maybe i'll figure it out later, or
sleep on it or something, have other things to do in a few more hours,
kinda got used to tablets, which require wifi, as can't afford data plan
for day to day use...
