Greetings all,
I'm back from vacation, though not exactly rested. In an attempt to
get back into the swing of things, I thought I'd put together the
following list for you all who may appreciate it.
1) The Next Official Monthly IRC Meeting of the Ubuntu Indiana Local
Community Team
Monday, August 13th at 8:00 P.M. (Indianapolis Time) in our fabulously
appointed suite (#ubuntu-indiana on irc.freenode.net).
2) Software Freedom Day
Saturday, September 15th. Worldwide.
Our possible involvement is still "under discussion", perhaps at the
IRC Meeting? (see above) Check out more information at
<http://www.softwarefreedomday.org>.
3) Ohio LinuxFest 2007
Saturday, September 29th, Columbus, OH
Not exactly in Indiana, but a stone's throw (or mini road trip) away,
the Ohio LinuxFest is an AWESOME experience that you (yes, you,
reading this, I know you're interested enough in Linux to be getting
this e-mail) would greatly enjoy attending.
I was asked to give a presentation there this year about my work with
Linux in Indiana schools, but :-( I'm a procrastinator and didn't
submit my presentation application on time *sigh*...On the bright
side, I'll get to enjoy someone else's presentation instead.
There's always next year...
4) K-12 Open Minds Conference
Tuesday thru Thursday, October 9-11 in Indianapolis.
Mike Huffman, of Indiana Department of Education and Indiana ACCESS
initiative fame, is organizing a Conference revolving around the use
of open source software in the K-12 education environment.
They're pushing for and expecting an international audience and—what's
most exciting to me—they're including students!
Check it out at <http://www.openmindsconference.org>.
I hope this finds you all having a marvelous night/day!
(I can pretty much guarantee I'll be exhausted in the morning, blasted
insomnia...)
