Well, I can say that as I look towards being able to afford a computer
in the near future, I've been looking at System76 (so nice...).
The only reason I slightly entertained buying a Dell before was when I
heard people were having some success getting a refund on their
Windows license fee through Dell, it just involved the hassle of
PAYING for a computer with Vista, then calling their CS people up and
asking for a refund on the software whose license agreement says you
can get a refund if you choose not to agree to it, firmly and
repeatedly.
This news means I'll also be considering Dell when the time comes, so
from personal experience I'd say there's definitely a market that will
be considering buying Dells now that weren't considering it before.
