Your idea is basically realistic and doable, though I'd caution you
against the idea that technical support is ever going to be "not much
to do", regardless of the OS. Technical support has more to do with
people than with technology.

You'll have to be good at sales, as well, to convince people to try
something outside of what they're used to. In fact, of your whole
plan, I'd say sales is going to be the one most significant variable
with re: to how successful it is—well, it is with every business,
really.

But, with determination, hard work, and luck, I think this type of
business could be very successful.

P.S. My guess is you'd have to revisit your $10/mo. backup idea. It's
a little vague. What if I have my home partition on an external 2 TB
RAID drive? Catch my drift?
