Enough people expressed interest in the dessert I brought for the Hardy
Release Party that I thought I would post the recipe to the mailing
list.
First, here is the part that I was given:
-------
DUMP BARS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
1 3/4 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
5 eggs
1 cup vegetable oil
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups chocolate chips divided
DUMP dry ingredients into bowl, reserving 1 cup of chips. DUMP remaining
ingredients into bowl. Mix by hand (not mixer) just until well combined.
Spread in greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 32-35
minutes... do not over-bake.
--------
Now, those are really, really good, and very easy to make (it is about
as simple as making brownies from a mix), but I thought I could make it
better, so I started adding peanut butter (I'm a sucker for the
chocolate/peanut butter combo). Unfortunately, I don't measure how much
peanut butter I use. Typically, I use two large heaping mixing-spoon
fulls of peanut butter. If I had to guess, I would say it would be
somewhere between 1/2 and 1 cup. Feel free to adjust to taste.
This time, I decided to try something a little different, so I tossed in
a large handful of peanuts, which I happened to have on hand. Again, I
didn't measure them, but probably about a quarter to a half cup.
Otherwise, there is no visual indication that there is peanut butter in
it (and some people are allergic to peanuts). This way, it is pretty
obvious that there is peanuts in it because you can see them.
