Hi;

My name is John Ward, live in Bourbonnais, IL - near Kankakee - about
30 miles west of Lowell, IN.

I have 4 computers, question applies to two of them. Both are running
Windows XP Home Edition and I did install Ubuntu 8.04 in these two, as
a program within Windows, and worked fine for a bit, then I had to
remove it for some reason.

However the Dual Boot option Screen still displays on the Medion
computer as well as on the H-P Computer. Further, I get a message on
the HP computer which I will include here shortly. Both these things
were either the reason or the result of/for uninstalling and
switching back to Windows. If I can get these corrected, will save me
reloading <groan>.

Message at bootup of HP when you select Ubuntu to boot to:

find--set-root --ignore-floppies/ubuntu/install/boot/grub/menu.lst

error 15: File not found

Press any key to continue (I press key)

Then: new screen:
(Across top, above window): GRUB4DOS 0.4.3 2008-04-22, Memory:
638K / 958M,   CodeEnd:  0x41228

<Window begins>

Within window:
find /ubuntu/dosks/boot/grub/menu.lst
find /ubuntuiinstall/boot/grub/menu.lst
find /menu.lst
find boot/gPanel/system/Advancedrub/menu.lst
command line
reboot
halt

<end of window>

Both computers are currently working fine in Windows , but the dual
boot screen is bothersome at this point.

I have gone to Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager and think
I saw a screen there listing the dual boot options that are on the
computer, will look there again - but not sure I saw any way to remove
the UNWANTED options?? I am wrong, I went to Control Panel/system/
Advanced and found the list there.

I hope I have given you enough in put that you can get me clear of
these problems?<G> Thank you very much in advance. I really would
like to become proficient in Ubuntu some day.

John Ward
