DJ -
I think most companies are in the middle of a "hiring freeze". Sometimes,
said freeze is mostly due to it seeming like it's probably a good idea, what
with everyone else doing it. Speaking from an admittedly limited point of
view (I'm a programmer for nFrame), IT hasn't been hit anywhere near as hard
as pretty much every one else.
The "user group scene", if you will, is picking up, if I do say so myself.
For instance, there's a calendar that intends to gather events that would be
interesting to programmers and other tech-geek types called Indy Hacker
Calendar available at http://indyhackers.org (CINLUG is on there!). It has
increased attendance of several of the groups listed on it, which is awesome
to see and experience. This way, while you're looking for jobs, you can
distract yourself with geeky meetings, often featuring free pizza to help
you keep your expenditures in check!
Welcome back to Indy, sir.
MilesZS
PS - If anyone has any events they think should be on the calendar, please
let me know. I'll see you at the Ruby meeting tonight?
