Generally you're expected to reply directly to the message your e-mail
is a response to, so you did just fine.
The only piece of mailing list etiquette I think is worth mentioning
for anyone not used to mailing lists is: E-mail that is not a response
to a previous message should not be sent as a reply to any message; it
should be sent directly to ubuntu-us-in at lists.ubuntu.com with a unique
subject.
