The more I've looked into making a new distro, the more it looks like a bad
idea. In fact, I would get *less *updates that way, because I'd be managing
my own repositories.
Switching to another distro might be my last option. I'm not going to
Windows, that's for sure, but maybe there's a nice system that would work,
uses GNOME2, and gets regular updates.
Overall, I'm back where I started: Ubuntu 10.10 is the only OS that works
well on all of my machines. I may just have to keep it, and update packages
manually.
At least Ubuntu 10.04 is still supported. In fact, because it's server
support won't end for a long time, it should get updates for at least a
year, probably longer. It's a little different from 10.10, but not too much
so.
