Laptop or Laptops

Hi all,

I'm hunting round for a laptop to replace an old Dell that currently
keeps freezing, if I can get a replacement I'll just give it back to
leftyb. As I'd originally given this laptop to someone and then had it
break in nasty ways it isn't giving the best impression of Xubuntu.

I'm also thinking about getting a new one or a second hand one which
is more new for myself so I've been looking at the prices for various
ubuntu offering shops as well as ebay etc any advice would be most
welcome.
