I've installed Feisty -- now need to get Comcast HSI up & running........

Caleb,
No one really needs to post to both my '.comcast.net'-address and my
'.yahoo.com'-address: i check both accounts very frequently, and with the
same program. That is to say, I get a whole long list of postings, and the
right-most column on my screen lists them as either 'Yahoo' or as 'Comcast'.
Oh!; if the double-posting just happens automatically, as a result
of clicking
'reply to all', then ignore the first part...
You are very likely correct about that and I certainly like the
sound of
anything that would obviate the need to be continually switching all these
cables around.
As to what you had earlier suggested: that i right click the
Networking icon,
and Connection Information -- following is what i found (or didn't) there

        Active Connection Information
Interface: wired Ethernet (eth1)
Speed: 100 Mb/s
Driver: atl1

IP Address: 0.0.0.0
Broadcast Address: 0.0.0.0
Subnet Mask: 0.0.0.0
Default Route: 0.0.0.0
Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0
Hardware Address: FE: E3: 37: F1: 99: 1A

I did find an entry in one of the System submenus which listed
'host alias settings' and the top twere as follows
localhost 127.0.0.1
gnoon-desktop.comcast.net 127.0.1.1

Yes, I will most definitely see about getting a Router: in a number of
ways, it would simplify life here.
Thanks for your help -- I will be back soon as I have the router.
Looks like i will get ample practice with Ubuntu Desktop Games in
the meantime.
Looks like until i can get thunderbird installed and working, I'll be
doing my
e-mail through my XP installed Thunderbird: Evolution does not seem to
have anywhere to specify the PopMailServerPort# or the SMTPport# &
both Comcast and YahooMailPlus have port #s which must be specified.
