[ubuntu-us-ma] Promoting Ubuntu: Battle Plans

As I was sending that email I realized that I was greatly
oversimplifying the task...getting the gov't to switch over to a new
OS is a HUGE job, and considering that licensing fees are only a small
percentage of their whole IT budget, it might not really save money
for a long time.

Fact remains that you're giving away something the other guy charges
for...it sure seems like it would be a easy sales job. I like the idea
of reaching out to some of these more progressive politicians - D.
Patrick, for example - and seeing if there is any interest. We ought
to see if Canonical will foot the bill for a couple of laptops to be
lent to a small number of highly influential persons.

I know you're being realistic, Martin, when you talk about the
complexity involved. Problem is...whenever you approach a problem
"realistically" it produces a bunch of negatives. Almost any problem
you look at looks like it's not doable. Sometimes it is better to take
a flying leap off the cliff, and build your wings on the way down.
