need help with wireless network card

Hi,

update - the matter has been resolved. Not fixed - I'm using a different
interface, but interestingly one that I NEVER expected to work. And
it... just worked.

A huge debt of gratitude to Matt, Patrick, and Rajiv for the advice and
putting up with my frustration.
