I got the first 25 years of classic toy trains and 75 years of model
railroader on DVD. They run under Ubuntu 14.04 using the (wine)
"emulator".The pdf files are keyed and are designed only be decoded
under windows or Mac. It is cumbersome but it does work. You need to
restart ubuntu every time you insert a data disk. The complete install
can't be done simply by using the options menu of the MR or CTR app.
Instead you need to go to the data file folders and copy all the data
from the disks into the folder. I have had no trouble running decoder
pro under Ubuntu 14.04. Ubuntu 16.04 is due out next April. It will
feature full touch screen support. I got my wife a Mac just to avoid the
windows circus.

B.L.U.F. - Bottom Line Up Front - Stay with Windows 7 as long as you can.
Windows 10 is a cross between Windows 7 and 8.1. There is no
business reason to upgrade to Windows 10 unless you want greater
security for everything. By default it will install Edge which is MS's
replacement for Internet Explorer. You can have both browers installed
if you wish. Microsoft is pushing Windows 10 hard because it is afraid
of a repeat of what happened to Vista after XP.....if it works, why
upgrade. MS is worried the world will hang on to Windows 7 for a while
- and why not since it works very well?? The cool thing is that Windows
10 kernal is smaller that Windows 7 kernal so if you can install Windows
7 on a box, you know with reasonable certainty that Windows 10 will also
install on the box in the future.

Has any one installed Windows 10 and had any problems? What do you
think of it?
