We have discussed the following on our "chat line" aka
sip:5000 at sip.nerdsonlinux.net
Here is what we came up with so far:

UNC
Ubuntu NetCast ( need better name , just made this up off the top of my
head)
45 minutes to 1 hour pod cast ( aka NetCast) in OGG and MP3 format.
To be distributed via iTunes and or libsyn.com

Format:

Top part of the show ( 20-30 minutes ) will consist of:
* Ubuntu news:
I suggest just highlighting news from http://www.linuxtoday.com/ and
  http://fridge.ubuntu.com/
* Discuss posts to our mailing list, hot threads, IRC meeting
  highlihghts, etc.
* People looking for help who leave a message ( yet to be setup ) or
post a question to the list or IRC
Those involved in the podcast are encouraged to interject as news is
discussed in order to cover all sides. Therefor there should always be
pro's and con's presented.

Bottom half of the show ( other 20-30 minutes ) will consist of:
* Interview of a LUG Officer or member discussing what is going on with
Linux and that part of NY
* Interview with a Ubuntu/Debian/Linux figure ( aka Jono Bacon ) Needs
to be related to our core mission somehow. We do not need to be the
5th NetCast to interview someone just because we can.
* In lue of the first two, a discussion of “a solution”. Many people
talk about new apps or gadgetry but no one really talks about
solutions. Example topics “how to compile code when a binary is not
available” or “How do I get pictures off my digital camera, touch them
up and print them out” ( Note topics should lend themselves to the
  audio format)
Again all involved are expected to bring there individual perspectives
to make the cast well balanced.

When:
At lest twice a month at lest once a month.
If there is enough people and support then once a week at max.

How:
Well using VoIP aka SIP soft phones all involved can call into the
Astrix server. Those who can not can also call in or we may be able to
call out to. We of course are looking for the best audio quality and
thus the preferred method for the “hosts” will be SIP softphone program
(Twinke seems the best with LinPhone as an alternative, but any Sip
client with the correct codecs will do ).

With this format the show can be recorded at two different times ( with
a 20-30minute duration ) Thus giving many people the opportunity to
participate. Once we establish the NetCast we can form a schedule so
that people can sign up for shows that interest them (bottom half). We
can also rotate the top half everyone gets a chance. Need to have three
to five hosts per show ( more then 5 is confusing )

Please make comments and also please volunteer as to what you will or
will not do:

Jobs:
* Host: Someone who can call in and add to the discussion at hand
* News blotter: Person who wrights up the talking point sheet for the
news segment. This talks more time then you think!
* Interview blotter: Person who sets up the interview, format and
questions so the interviewee knows what to expect
* Mixer: Person who takes the raw WAV files and mixes them together (
with intro and exit effects ) then produces the OGG and MP3
files. Finally uploads them on time for all to d/l
* Planner / Calendar: Plans shows makes sure there is enough coverage
                      helps with planning interviews etc.

Please let me know if I left out any roles. Note that like Linux this
will be a distributed work! Meaning that we rotate jobs and all are
encouraged to try new and challenging roles but they should not be stuck
in any one role either.

COMMENTS PLEASE!!!!
