My name is Julia Dickinson. I'm the research Director at the Rochester Business Journal newspaper. I went to RIT, so I'll be the first to admit that I'm more geeky than most people. I've known about Linux for some time, but I was introduced to Ubuntu by my boyfriend Barnaba (Barnaby) Bienkowski. He convinced me to partition my hard drive, so some days I feel like Windows, some days I feel like Ubuntu. While I'm aware of the various political and ethical battles being waged within the tech community, I really have no strong opinions (beyond the need to keep information free and accessible), and I consider myself a utilitarian. In other words, I see computers as tools, no different than say, umbrellas or cars or toasters, and I feel no strong loyalty towards any OS or brand. Whatever does the job best is all that really matters to me. So if you start talking to me about recompiling, the "evils if Micro$oft", etc, my eyes WILL glaze over. ;-)
