[NYLoCo] Brooklyn Community Gatherings

I would not mind a restaurant to *start* -- but you can't really say
"Excuse us nerds, while we set up our LAN party ... just move those
buffalo wings, we'll put our Cantennas here..."

So some space that we could rent out would be a good idea. If everyone
were willing to contribute $20-$30 if we have enough people coming we
could afford to rent the place as well as get some snack-foods. (Just
thinking out loud).

To Zach Stern: I have never been to a LuG meeting, nevermind @ the
Google Bldg in manhattan, what goes on there? Any fees? Is there room
for participation?

In large gatherings, often the more-quiet users suffer becuase they
don't get a chance to ask anything -- I'm thinking the sweet spot for
a LuG meeting is 25-35 people.

I could probably scrounge up a projector (we may have an old one
somewhere, i have to look) so we can hook up laptops to a white-wall
for all to take part in some instruction. Would anyone have a
projector? It would also be nice to be able to film it for posting for
those who could not make it and see what they're missing to entice
them to come next time.

I suggested Brooklyn becuase I think it would be cheaper (also becuase
I live in Brooklyn) -- its very hard to park in Manhattan without
getting a ticket or spending $50, I often have parked in Manhattan
only to get a $110 ticket becuase I parked near some orange cone,
which all by itself means its a construction zone ... yay.

I know where I live (an apartment complex) they have a basement-room
where you can "rent out" for birthday parties and such, I'll ask what
they charge for a day ... it would have to be a place where we don't
have to be super quiet and we'd be allowed to converse freely without
getting "shhh'ed".

Also, do any of you guys show up in the IRC room? I often don't see
many there, though I tend to be on later after 7pm Easten time.
