Hello all:
== 10.04 ==
The time is growing short for the expected release of 10.04 and excitement is
growing high. There will be a new theme after years of discussion (check it out:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Brand). I would like to ask all the artists in our LoCo
to submit potential NY LoCo logos that make use of the new Ubuntu theme; help us
remake our sites.
== IRC Meetings ==
The NY LoCo meets on the third Tuesday of each month from 9pm to 10pm to discuss
LoCo business and just getting to know one another. The March IRC meeting is
March 16th. I would encourage all members to join us on irc.freenode.net
channel: #ubuntu-us-ny
== Events ==
=== March ===
The NY LoCo will be presenting at EdTech Day (Ithaca College -
http://www.ithaca.edu/edtechday/) on March 25th. The event is a free technology
event focused on education. Feel free to register and let them know in the
comments you heard about their event via the NY Ubuntu LoCo. We will also have a
vendor booth where we will be handing out CDs and discussing FOSS with show
attendees.
=== April ===
I will be attending BarCamp RIT (http://barcamprochester.org/) on April 3rd.
This is a great 'geek out' event where everyone presents. It is a fantastic
community based event that I encourage everyone to check out if they can.
=== June ===
FOSSCON (http://fosscon.org/) will be held at RIT in Rochester NY this year.
This is the inaugural year of this community based open source event. The event
is still in the planning stages. If you are a company and would like to sponsor
the event you can get more details here: http://fosscon.org/sponsors/ -- If you
are a person who would like to present you can get more information here:
http://fosscon.org/speakers/ -- If you are a person or community group who
would like to attend you can get more details here: http://fosscon.org/attend/.
This is your chance to attend the inaugural event... do not miss the opportunity
to be a part of history.
Serenity,
Charles Profitt
