Quite possible, however if he wrote a LiveCD image of NetbookRemix, its
similar.
As for killing the drive, it might not hurt as long as there's no data he
needs to keep.

I am NOT suggesting this, but just positing for group consideration: What if
Jake ran KillDisk, wiped his hard drive clean, and then inserted the CD? If
he doesn't know what a Live CD is, then it sounds like it isn't working.
Perhaps he needs another CD?
So, Jake, if you put your CD in, reboot, and then do nothing, what happens?
Have you searched for your computer's exact model number in the Ubuntu
forums? That should reveal most known problems between your 'puter and
Ubuntu.
Good luck!

How would I go about getting a Live CD?
Also, since I'm still confronted with the blank screen, what is the
key combination that I should attept to employ when booting in order
to try to get the CD drive to boot?
Thanks,
Jake
