Everyone,
We had a few agenda items during our last meeting that we felt like we
needed more discussion. Please reply to either myself or the entire group
so I can get a better feel for how to proceed.
1) Status on the Pacific Northwest Loco becoming an official team. I have
started a thread with the Ubuntu Community Council and believe that we could
in fact become an official team but there may be some consequences that I
did not originally consider. I believe that proceeding may unnecessarily
cause some bad blood between our team and other Ubuntu Locos. The Ubuntu US
Teams project has done a remarkable job and we have made it a point to stand
behind them and help where possible. They (the individuals leading the US
Teams Project) feel that having our team approved would be confusing and
counter productive for their goals.
I may have started the PNW team but it's your team and the decision on how
we proceed rests with the majority's vote.
We have done some great things and we work well together and certainly do
not want to lose any momentum... Here are the choices as I see them
currently (feel free to suggest any alternatives).
a) We proceed operating with our same team goals as an unofficial group of
collaborating official teams (Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Idaho and other US
Teams). We would continue to help one another and other lugs in attempts to
make every team as strong and productive as possible.
b) We decide to continue with what we have because it works and try to
become official. In addition we continue supporting the US Teams project by
using our resources to get the Oregon and Washington loco teams approved
then run and manage all three separate entities together.
Either way, I will personally be helping the Oregon, Washington, Pacific
Northwest and US Teams projects to the fullest of my ability.
2) Software Freedom Day is September 15th. We are planning on having events
in both Portland and Seattle. I would like to see these events in some
public (none techy) places. I'm looking in to trying to get a table at
setup at the Saturday Market in Portland and it was suggested that the
Seattle team could setup at Westlake?
a) Can you help?
b) Which location(s) do you think would work best?
3) The Pacific Northwest Art Package contest is still happening so don't
forget to take a few pictures to submit. The current 1st place prize is a
$20.00 gift certificate.
You're input is greatly appreciated.
