Ubuntu - Hackintosh dual boot

My daughter is leaving for NZ / Australia for 3.5 months.  She is leaving her shiny (target) MacBook behind.  We plan to set up a small 3.2 lb Toshiba with an i3 Intel processor & 500 GB HD, with one partition for Ubuntu (as a fail safe) and make 400 GB a Hackintosh with OSX Snow Leopard.  

Does anyone have experience with that kind of dual boot?
