Ubuntu KDE

OK guys, how about this, to put an end to the argument (maybe).
Ubuntu keeps going as it has been with Gnome as the default desktop
environment. It works well for it, and there's no point in changing
that. BUT WAIT! They said their in talks with KDE devs to get everything
working top-notch in Ubuntu, right? That means that soon users will be
able to download KDE and not worry about it not working properly. Why
not put it on the cd, you may ask? Well, because it would go over 1 cd,
and that's something that the devs are very committed to, and I
appreciate that. Maybe they'll one day have a second optional cd that
can be ordered separately, but who knows? Still, KDE is not going to go
on the cd unless it replaces Gnome, which I don't see happening because
of the work that's already gone into Gnome, and the fact that there are
about a zillion KDE based distros out there. I don't have anything
against KDE, and while it's not my choice, it's pretty good. But it's
fruitless to change the course of development so drastically at this
point. So.
1. Ubuntu will probably never SHIP with KDE
2. Ubuntu will support KDE in the future (or so it seems) so that people
can download it and install it and not have to worry about it not working.
3. No amount of arguing on the mailing list will change either of these,
I don't think.
So I can use Gnome, you can use KDE, the guy over there can use Fluxbox,
the girl down the street can use FVWM. So who cares? Seriously.
