Others have already answered your question if you choose to keep bash as
your shell. If you are interested in some serious autocompletion I would
suggest you take a look at zsh... It at least used to be light years
ahead of bash when it comes to autocompletion:
apt-g<tab> i<tab> bic<tab> -> apt-get install bicyclerepair
And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
