snapshot program

The gnome screenshot program (I'm running hoary) is *very* minimal. I
would like at least the ability to snap a particular window, and in
some cases, simply choose a rectangular area to snap. I realise I
could do this with Gimp, but that's rather heavyweight for my taste.

Will there be improvement soon in gnome-screenshot? Can someone
recommend an alternative in the meantime?
