Both Thunderbird&Firefox and Evolution have text magnification 
capability--------take a look in the View menu.
Thunderbird:   CTRL +   magnifies,    CTRL-  shrinks    and I believe   
Evolution    CTRL 8  magnifies
and CTRL 0  shrinks
