Hmm.  I've see Thom's elegant justification for reply to sender, in an 
earlier thread.  Great in theory, but in
practice it is a pain to most of us.

Or to see an example close to home;  try entering the wrong password in the 
gui box before running an admin task:  you will get a message on the lines 
of "Failed to run users-admin as root.  Child terminated with 1 status."

That message is undoubtedly technically correct, but it is not informative 
about what went wrong.  An experienced user will probably guess that they 
got the password wrong, an inexperienced user may think the system is 
broken, or worse, that they've broken it.
