Two things missing from Ubuntu - Backup and Firewall - can we havethem in Horay

I'd say that both are pretty much required nowadays as standard
features, and of course already exist in various forms.  Just not in
"Ubuntu"-like forms.

For backup, just a gui + wizard frontend to tar would do the trick. 
Maybe add job configuration memory and the ability to add/manage a
cron entry for it.

For firewalling, at a minimum, an easy way to setup nat is a must
closely followed by a simple firewall to block all incoming
connections but allow all outgoing.  That right there is only a few
lines of iptables commands.  However, having to write those few lines
is more than a newbie can handle.  Bonus points for the inclusion of
opening ports and port forwarding.

As for those thinking that ubuntu needs no firewall, I would be
inclinded to agree.  However, I'd much, MUCH rather just say "Yes, ubu
has an integrated firewall" rather than explain why windows needs one
and ubuntu does not to any random new user.
