Selfish Package Request: VIA Unichrome Drivers

Greetings

Has anyone packaged the VIA Unichrome CLE266 graphics and XINE drivers
for Warty or Hoary? I have a number of machines which use this
integrated graphics chipset, and I am presently forced to use "vesa" as
my XFree86/xorg driver. This is a lot slower than the proper drivers for
Windows or Linux - and DVD playback is very unpleasant: it is slow,
stilted and very jerky (with 1GB RAM).

The Unichrome GPL drivers are hosted on sourceforge.net and are freely
distributable. The URL is http://unichrome.sourceforge.net. I am having
a lot of difficulty compiling and building the drivers.

I googled and found that one developer had packaged the driver for
Debian and even included an apt-get repository. However, these packages
seem to break Ubuntu Warty and Hoary. They are available here:
http://www.physik.fu-berlin.de/~glaweh/debian

I am a writer and can't help build the packages. However, I am very
happy to test every release and assist with documentation.

Please consider and Happy Holidays.

Matthew
