/media/cdrom* directories disappeared

Hi all (first time),

coming from debian I am impressed by the nice overall configutation
of
ubuntu (pmount...), but today (after several days without any
problems in
this area) I realised, my /media/cdrom* (0 and 1) dirs had
disappeared. The
links /cdrom and /media/cdrom still exist, the devices are present
under
/dev (hdb, hdc) so are my links /dev/cdrom and /dev/dvd (to hdb),
the
devices show up under nautilus>disks, the entries in /etc/fstab are
present.
But without the actual directories present, inserting a cdrom does
nothing
(I coud see) and clicking the device-icons in nautilus (or "pmount
/dev/hd*)
tells me /media/cdrom* does not exist. After having created the
appropriate
directory everything works fine - untill I reboot, when those
/media/cdrom*
directories are no longer present.
dmesg shows "cdrom: open failed." twice. Important?
The directories /media/floppy0 and /media/windows still exist and
work as normal.
I test-started udftools and discover on startup (some time before
the I noticed the problem, but don't anymore).
I couldn't find any post on this matter. Can anyone comment on this
and help me out? Your advice would be much appreciated.
I append /etc/fstab, ls_l_media.txt, dmesg.txt (don't know which
parts might be important, so tho whole thing, sorry) and (I hope)
the relevant parts of lshal.txt. What else do you need?
