you know that you're welcome to stick around Ubuntu for longer than 6
months.  No needs to switch back to Fedora if everything works fine
with Ubuntu :)

taken from your post over that forum:
"I have now installed Ubuntu Linux (http://www.ubuntulinux.org) which
does not give any clicking noises. I will still keep an eye on Fedora
in the future though, and maybe try again in six months or so. (After
the release of the 2.7-kernel, whenever it's due.)"
