mount afs - help needed

Is anyone using Ubuntu to access AFS (Apple File System) shares?

I'm currently using smbmount to access my OS X share, but the uid= and 
gid= options don't work!  I always need to do 'sudo' to access stuff on 
the server.

So, since OS X has also AFS builtin (but not NFS?) I'd give it a try.  
What I need is a mount plugin to make it work (haven't found such with 
apt).
