Small Base System - Thank You

Don't dive yet!  The simple base system, installed with a minimum of fuss 
and questions, followed by a clean desktop populated with useful stuff that 
"Just Works" is exactly why I am suggesting this distro to people.

My comparison is with SuSE 9.1 which covers the desktop in menus branching 
off menus;  I'm interested in computers, but even I don't want that much 
choice forced on me.  As for trying to support a new user on such a 
system;  well, I don't want to have to start by asking which out of several 
spreadsheets they are trying to use...
