reprobing mouse/screen

I have a Ubuntu box I have set up at the community center I am helping
at.  I have changed the mouse and screen.  The mouse douse not work
and the screen rez/setup needs re-probing.  How do I run the bit of
the install to do this.

I did have the answer to the screen bit a while ago but cant find the
email.  Promise I wont loose it this time.
