This is Warty on a Gigabyte GA-7S748-L motherboard.
Here's the short form of what's in the box:

Makes no diff whether the kbd/mouse are plugged in or not: atm they're
in use on another box and I can't type this without them.
I'm using the same kernel I did from the start, I just checked kern.log.
It _was_ working at work. I downloaded lotsa stuff (kde etc ammounting
to 400Mb+) but I don't think I installed anything.
Brought the box home.
Keyboards, USB and PS/2 both work in the BIOS and in GRUB. Therefore
they're plugged in properly.
Not USB or PS/2, keyboard or mouse, works now. Alone or in any combination.
The USB devices simply are not detected. No amount of unplugging &
replugging, restarting hotplug or manually stuffing round with modules
has done anything.
It's been running Sarge for ages.
Here are selected kernel messages when it worked The A4Tech mouse is at
home; at work I only plugged in the IBM kbd because it's got a PS/2 port
in it to plug a PS/2 mouse into; it then works as a USB mouse.

Cycling power doesn't help.
Once I've send this I'll book Knoppix to see whether that works. In the
meantime, hints to the list are welcome.
