3Com EtherLink III ISA (3C509b-TP) network problem

Thanks a lot! I got it working after putting that module into the list
and manually configuring the connection and the DNS servers, but I
absolutely failed to understand what to do in the interfaces and
resolv.conf files...
for some reason though something started popping up during boot. It
keeps telling me that it failed to load shpchp and pciehp failed to
load, from the hotplug directory. I read online about the same bug,
but there were no solutions, although a german forum had determined
that the shpchp is the pci express hotplug modules and that pciehp is
the stanard pci hotplug module. It tells me permission denied, even
when I try to modprobe with sudo. Is there a way to fix this, or maybe
block them from booting, since I have no problems running without
them?
