Not right now, but shadows and transparency will be possible in the
future with the X.org xserver. The tools that exist right now to
control that functionality are really just "proof of concept" quality,
so we really won't have those things for everyday use until Gnome
and/or Metacity are made aware of the new goodies. :-)
