how can i upgrade to ati 3.14.6 drivers?

to make this a bit more serious:
i tried the usual way in relation to rpms:
	root at rockarolla ~/fglrx # alien fglrx-4.3.0-3.14.6.i386.rpm 
	root at rockarolla ~/fglrx # dpkg -i fglrx_4.3.0-4.14_i386.deb
but dpkg gives an error
	dpkg-deb: Unterprozess paste getötet mit Signal (Datenübergabe
	unterbrochen (broken pipe))
in english something like: childprocess killed with signal...

has anyone a hint?
