Hi all
I still try to install and run my scanner (Agfa Snapscan e50). And still
xsane (and scanimage -L and some others) causes an memory access error.
sane-find-scanner finds and shows my scanner.
'cat /proc/bus/usb/devices' too finds and shows my scanner but the line
'I' says ... Driver=(none), see the following output
---snip
T: Bus=03 Lev=02 Prnt=06 Port=01 Cnt=02 Dev#= 11 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff MxPS= 8 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=06bd ProdID=208f Rev= 1.00
S: Manufacturer=AGFA
S: Product=SNAPSCAN
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=40 MxPwr=100mA
I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 3 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)

If I compare the 'scanner output' to the output for my printer
(Driver=usblp) and my mouse (Driver=usbhid), I get the suspicion that
the module 'usbscanner' is missing. But I do not know if such a module
exists in reality (and not only in my mind). If yes, is hotplug
responsible to load this module or do I have to load this module by
hand?
lsmod shows both modules 'usblp' and 'usbhid' but cannot find the module
'usbscanner' (Printer, Mouse and Scanner are plugged in/power on).
Therefore my suspicion 'usbscanner' dosen't exist or hotplug dosen't its
job.
btw: Does capitalisation in snapscan.conf matter? I found a hint in the
internet that one should use only small letters.
Any help will be appreciated.
Kind regards, Roland
