I downloaded the kernel source package, unpacked it and linked 
/usr/src/linux to it.

However, when I try to compile my module, I get the error:

  linux/version.h: No such file or directory.

Do I really have to complie the kernel, even though I'm not going to 
install it, just to get these files?
