I think you have to apply the patches too.
Don't ask ME how...I'm still waiting for an answer, since I'm trying to
compile a kernel too. I get an error about an undefined symbol (actually
2 of them now that I used the security-updated source. But I DON'T care
about 486 emulation). I downloaded the patches but they're just sitting
there. They get installed to /usr/src/linux-patches .
