Firefox flash not working right?

I'm pretty antagonistic towards swf on slower computers... though, if
done properly, it can work wonders on a site. I find it chews up far
too many (precious) CPU cycles... not too long ago I disabled the
plug-ins completely b/c I found that a few sites had all of a sudden
become over-zealous in their advertising and were feeding up two,
three or even four Flash productions on a single web-page (& since I
usually browse with a number of tabs at once that really started
slowing things down)... I have a feeling I wasn't the only one who was
irritated by that since soon thereafter they seemed to revert to  GIFs
& the occasional Flash ad.
