Yes, and then configure it to exactly match your running kernel.  Then
compile it.



You can save the hassle and just use the kernel headers.



The secret here is that the package in Ubuntu is not named the same as
in Debian.  The are called linux-headers.



Use synaptic to search for kernel-headers and you will find the
linux-headers packages.  Install the one that matches your kernel.

apt-cache search linux-headers.
