dpkg -l | grep xserver

it'll either be xserver-xfree86 or xserver-xorg that has "ii" at the start
of the line. That is the one you have installed. Most likely xorg.

they should specify the driver as "nvidia". "nv" is the very basic 2d
driver included with XFree86/XOrg.
