Microsoft is as likely to sue over OpenOffice.org or Gnome than mono,
it owns as many pattens on them. We can always drop it if somebody
sues. You also forget that GNU has an implementation of .Net when you
talk about Free with a big F. This is not a discussion about which
development enviroment is better Python or mono. This is about a
couple of great applications that are written in a language that has
an free as in speech development environment.

Beagle is not just an OpenOffice.org searcher, but that is an example
usecase that isn't addressed now. Beagle can search pretty much
everything like pdf, emails see http://gnome.org/projects/beagle for
the full list, plus has dynamic update so if you searched something
and still have the window open it updates the search result.
