yes, that was I meant.

But what are the alternative?  In my pre-Ubuntu life, I would have
used gtoaster for this, but I don't really want to install it on
Ubuntu.   Is there an easy way to erase a CD-RW using the command
line?  Can a command like cdrecord do it?
