after you install Ubuntu,

once the floppy is built you can boot from the xp recovery counsole,
fdisk/mbr, fixboot and when you want to use ubuntu just boot from the
floppy.

To install LILO you'll need to install from the customised / expert
menu (hit the respective f key at ubuntu boot prompt).
